Acrylic on wood
December 2009

Sotz was the result of three months worth of work while I was leading the USC Drumline as Section Leader for the 2009 football season. The shape of Sotz is influenced by totem poles from the Inuit Indians of Alaska and by the Mayan bat-god Camazotz, an early vampire. An emphasis was placed upon layering the pieces of wood and the interactions those layers created. While the designs are primarily influenced by the Inuits, the palette suggests modernity and neon lights.

Sotz has been featured at the Riverside Community Arts Association, and is now on display at the Arrowhead Executive Suites in San Bernardino, CA.

Sotz is currently for sale, please contact me if interested.
